Appalachian Trail This well know trail is a National Historic park. The trail traverses through Pennsylvania and locally there are many trail heads along the main Roads that intersect the trail along the Blue Mountains. Blue Marsh Lake This facility is operated by the Corp. of Engineers. The fishery of this lake is very diversified and includes Stripped Bass. Motorboats are allowed on this lake during the day and night. Large picnic areas, trails, swimming area, boat launch areas, and restrooms are available. Hunting is also allowed in the surrounding areas to the Lake. Located near historic Gruber Wagon Works and Union Canal. From Reading, approx. 5 mi NW on PA 183 to Bern Church, then left following project signs to the lake. Hamburg Park Kaercher Creek Park Kernersville Dam Lake Ontelaunee This lakes main purpose was to establish a water supply for the City of Reading that has become a favorite hunting and fishing location. Leaser Lake The lake is located Northeast of Hamburg off of Route 143 near the Village of Jacksonville. State Game Lands There are two State Game lands located just North of Hamburg. State Game Land 106 is located on the Blue Mountains East of Route 61 and is comprised of 5,670 wooded acres. State Game Land 110 is located West of Route 61 along the Blue Mountains and has 6,640 acres of Woodland. Both are well known for their Deer and Turkey hunting opportunities. Weiser State Forest The Weiser State Forest consists of eight tracts of State Forest Land located in northern Dauphin, Schuylkill, Carbon and Berks Counties. |
